If you’d like to listen to (or download) the Jazzed About Jazz concert, this link will get you there:  http://www.4shared.com/dir/9428336/6d681e66/Britt_Instrumental_Jazz_Camp_2009.html

The original recording was not broken down by tracks, so you need to listen through to find more specific tunes or combos — but it’s all there and it sounds really good!

Thank you to Jill Dillon for these photos from the Jazzed About Jazz Concert!

Schmidt Family Winery August 19, 2009

This was such a beautiful day.  The winery grounds are beautiful, the day was beautiful (if a little breezy), the music was beautiful.  The light was so beautiful that I went around to each quartet and took a picture of each player individually with the idea of doing a nice gallery of photos… sort of a tribute to the great students of Britt’s String Quartet Academy 2009.  And here it is:

Looking back from down the road August 13, 2009

So, finally a chance to get back and do a little blogging-in-review.

I hope everyone got back to where you had to go without too much difficulty.  Joelle and I are back in the office, with two days to prepare for the Family Concert.  It will be fun, but of course we miss all the energy and beautiful music of the String Quartet Academy!

That last weekend we had a lot going on; the performance on the Britt Hill prior to the Anne Akiko Meyers concert, the Quartets in the Vineyards, and the two-part Quartet Academy Recital on Sunday… not to mention the closing dinner Sunday night, which was very much fun.

I’m going to add some photos to catch-up on those events.  Thank you to all the musicians, faculty, staff, parents, other family, friends, and Britt Institute supporters for every effort large and small that contributed to the camp this year and to the fantastic performances by our quartets!  It’s all about GIFTS — the gift of everyone’s time, talents, resources, concern, energy, and it all contributes to the gift of music.  These are all the best and noblest of gifts, and it happens because the team effort and committment is so amazing.  Thank you all!
